TONIGHT!: Join us for our annual Summer Picnic to be held on Monday, July 22nd at 5:30pm at Rochester Park, 710 Hickory St, in Sheboygan Falls.

We are excited to announce that Senator Chris Larson, Wisconsin Democratic Minority Leader, and one of the heroic Wisconsin 14, is going to be joining us to talk about what is happening in Madison and the fight for 2014.

In 2008, Sen. Larson successfully ran for Milwaukee County Supervisor on a platform of fully funding the County’s parks and transit system.

After defeating an entrenched incumbent from his own party as the progressive alternative during the 2010 Fall Primary, Chris was elected to the Wisconsin State Senate on November 2, 2010. Just two years later, he was elected by his colleagues to serve as Senate Democratic Leader for the 2013-2014 Legislative Session.

We hope to see you there!

In addition, Outagamie Co. Executive and former State Assembly Majority Leader Thomas Nelson will be joining us. Nelson was first elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2004 in a traditionally conservative part of the state.

After a new Democratic majority was elected in the fall of 2008, Nelson was selected by his peers to serve as Assembly Majority Leader. He was one of the youngest legislators in Wisconsin history to serve in this position.

In 2010, Nelson won his party’s nomination for lieutenant governor, beating a crowded field with over fifty percent of the vote.

Following the 2010 election cycle, Nelson ran and won the position of Outagamie County Executive besting a crowded field of six candidates. As county executive, Nelson oversees a $200 million annual budget, thirty-one departments and a 1,100 person workforce.

The event is free (although donations are always gladly accepted) and we ask everyone who attends to bring whatever meat they would like to have grilled and a dish to pass (hot, cold, side, desert, etc.)

Everyone is welcome to join us, whether you’re already a member or interested in learning more about the Party or Democratic activism in Wisconsin.

The Sheboygan County Democratic Party will provide the refreshments, plates, napkins, utensils and grilling.

Come join us for a fun and exciting evening!
