Governor Jim Doyle today announced that he will visit communities along Lake Michigan on August 2nd and 3rd to promote environmental initiatives, encourage tourism, and meet with local citizens and local government and business leaders to make sure their views are heard in Madison.
Over the two days, the Governor will make his way from Washington Island to Kenosha, stopping at harbors, parks, tourist sites, local businesses and community events along the way. Governor Doyle will discuss his efforts to support Lake Michigan communities over the past seven and a half years, and will discuss new initiatives to protect critical Great Lake habitats.
“The people and communities along Lake Michigan are part of what makes Wisconsin so great,” Governor Doyle said. “These communities have so much to offer – from great tourist attractions to thriving businesses – and I look forward to visiting them. I believe that government works best when leaders have a chance to get to know people one on one, and hear directly from the people we serve. Over the next couple days I will have the opportunity to see what makes this region unique, meet with the hardworking families and community leaders, and take their ideas and concerns back to Madison.”
Governor Doyle will be joined by Natural Resources Secretary Matt Frank and Tourism Secretary Kelli Trumble.
